Who Am I?

You might have already guessed that my name is Gerard so I’ll skip that bit and get down to business. I’m a 26-year-old freelance web designer / Network Engineer working for an IT company in Dublin, having graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computing and Design from the University of Ulster.

So, by day I work for a company called Bryan  S Ryan.  Bryan S Ryan specialise in SME business solutions, network infrastructure, Virtualisation, VOIP and support in Ireland.

While working at Bryan S Ryan I have gained some specialised certifications.

CCNA – Cisco Certified Network Associate
CSSA – Certified Sonicwall Security Administrator
MCTS – Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist, 2008 SBS.
MCTS – Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist, Windows 7 Configuring
MCNPS – Microsoft Certified Network Product Specialist.
MCPS – Microsoft Certified Product Specialist.
MCP – Developing ASP.NET web applications using C#, VB.Net & SQL server.

By night, weekends and any other time I have to spare- you’ll find me working on one of the many projects I have going on at the moment, including this website!  I’ve been too busy building websites for other people and companies that I neglected myself.. Well no more!

I’m currently working on a web application that’s allows IT Companies and IT Teams share customer information via various devices.  The application is being built using Ruby on Rails with a mysql database.  Yes busy times ahead… just call me the hermit!

After these websites I will finally get to start my own little project.. Command Guide.  Command Guide is a CCNA resource website housing all of the CCNA commands.  This can be used as a learning tool or simply somewhere to go to when you have forgotten how to do something.

It’s not all work and no play though… I have a passion for adventure and traveling, and have spent many summer’s in the US and travel a lot through Europe when I get the chance too! When I’m not glued to a computer screen, you’ll most likely find me glued to a PS3 joystick or hanging out with my mates…with a few beers off course!
